MBARARA – The National Resistance Movement members who lost during the party primary elections in Mbarara City have intensified grassroots mobilisation to secure a comfortable victory for President Yoweri Museveni in the forthcoming election.

The group has rolled out a door-to-door voter campaign aimed at consolidating support for the NRM flagbearers at all levels.

The team leader, Doreen Natamba, urges all party members, including those who participated in the primaries, to set aside their differences and rally behind the party’s broader objective of securing victory in the general elections.

We have not seen NRM supporters moving in groups, mobilising support for Mzee. That’s why we have come up, and we were hoping you could recognise our contribution.

Apollo Tumusiime Rutaaba, a former loser, called upon the electorate to reflect on President Museveni’s achievements over the years, noting that the development and stability attained under Museveni’s leadership deserve recognition through the ballot.

“We invite all fellow losers to come and join us in protecting the gains. You may think that you don’t have what you need to protect, but if you can move freely, that’s peace and a gain. Protect it.” He noted

Meanwhile, Evelyn Korishaba reaffirmed her unwavering loyalty to the party, emphasising that unity among party members is key to achieving success in the upcoming elections, despite the competition witnessed during the primaries.

“Yes, we lost the elections, but we are still in the party. So, we are adding on to what others are doing so that our presidential flag bearer can win this election,” she argued
The Mbarara Resident City Commissioner, Catherine Kamwine, insisting on achieving a big voter turnout, called upon voters in Mbarara to throng their respective polling stations on the polling day because security is guaranteed.
