Anti-Corruption court charges, remands Rubanda district officials

KAMPALA – The Anti-Corruption court in Kampala has charged and remanded seven officials from Rubanda District Local Government, and a contractor, over alleged abuse of office and embezzlement of over UGX100m, which was meant to carry out agricultural extension activities across various sub-counties in the district.

The officials were separately remanded to Luzira prison by His Worship, Paul Mujuni and His Worship Christopher until 9th March 2026 and 11th March 2026, for bail application.

The officials include: Mr Benon Kahangi, District Production Officer, Mr Stephen Buregyeya, Senior Treasurer, Mr Sixtus Ahabwe, Assistant Veterinary Officer and Mr Owen Atuhaire, Assistant Inventory Management Officer.

Others are: Ms Pamela Musimenta, Assistant Agriculture Officer, Mr Kwizera Wilson, Assistant Agriculture Officer, Mr Gerald Sibomana, Fisheries Officer, and Mr. Nicholas Karuhanga, Director Hummer Consults Co. Ltd.

They allegedly committed the offence between January 2023 and June 2023.

One of the suspects, Mr Peter Turinayo, is still at large. His Worship Mujuni issued a criminal summons to Mr Turinayo, requiring him to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court on the 11th March, 2026.

Prosecution was represented by Mr Mikka Luteete Mikka and Ms Diana Nantabazi, both Supervisors in charge of Prosecutions at the Inspectorate of Government (IG).
