KABALE – The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira has called on Christians to become true agents of Christ’s love as they mark the Easter season.

Bishop Rubaramira made the remarks during an interview with this publication on Wednesday at Rushoroza Hill, Kabale Municipality, ahead of Easter celebrations.

Easter is the most significant period in the Christian calendar that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Bishop noted that Easter is not only a time for celebration but also a moment for deep reflection on the sacrifice and love that Jesus Christ showed to humanity.

“Easter is a time for us to reflect deeply on the love of God and the sacrifice of His Son. It is not just about celebration, but about renewal of our faith and commitment to God,” Bishop Rubaramira said.

He reminded believers that during the Last Supper, Jesus gave a clear commandment to His disciples to love one another, emphasizing that this teaching should guide Christians in their daily lives.

“Jesus was very clear when He said, ‘love one another as I have loved you.’ This is the foundation of our Christian life, and it must be seen in the way we treat each other every day,” he added.

Bishop Rubaramira further explained that God’s love for mankind was demonstrated when He sent His only Son to serve as a ransom for many, a sacrifice he described as the foundation of the Christian faith.

“God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son for our salvation. That sacrifice should inspire us to live lives that reflect gratitude, humility, and obedience to His will,” he said.

He also called on Christians to shun the darkness of sin and embrace a life of righteousness, noting that Easter presents an opportunity for spiritual renewal and transformation.

“We must turn away from sin and everything that separates us from God. Easter is a time to begin again, to renew our hearts, and to walk in the light of Christ,” Bishop Rubaramira urged.
